I have always believed in living and promoting a healthy lifestyle. I think being physically fit is not simply about pumping iron at the gym. It’s about realizing that if your mind is in your full control, you can achieve anything you wish for, including getting in the best shape of your life.
I simply look at it this way: if you take care of your body, your body will take care of you. Before you begin your journey towards being fit and healthy, you must first understand that your body is your personal vehicle with five senses that allows you to explore and experience the world around you. And if you are not bothered to keep it in its best possible shape, you will not be able to enjoy all the dimensions of your life to the fullest.
Just like taking your car for routine maintenance to keep the engine running smoothly, you must find a balance between your work and social life to make some room for your physical fitness.
The secret to being in the best shape of your life is to master your mind.
The smallest split-second decision when you choose whether or not to go to the gym is the critical moment. This is where you consciously decide who to listen to: your mind or your body. If you listen to your body and keep surrendering to that voice that says “Nah, I’ll start tomorrow”, you are intentionally letting your body control your actions and not your mind. This attitude will lead you to many disappointments when it comes to being fit as well as in many other aspects of life.
Waking up in the morning and avoiding the snooze button despite how badly you wish to sleep a little longer; or deciding to go to the gym in the afternoon even when you have the excuse of having to do a million other things instead; or choosing to work out in the evening using your last bit of energy after a long day’s work –ultimately decides how powerful your mind is.
Only when you stop finding excuses and gain full control over your own mind, will you be able to have full control over getting fit and healthy.
