I think everyone who is able and privileged enough to make a conscious choice about being healthy should take out at least 30-45 minutes every day to focus on physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.
Before starting your journey of being fit and healthy, you have to ask yourself one simple question: does your body listen to your mind or does your mind listen to your body? If your enthusiastic mind sets an alarm to go to the gym in the morning and you hit the snooze button when your body demands extra sleep, your own mind clearly has no control over your body. I personally believe that choosing a healthy lifestyle is a reflection of how powerful, motivated and disciplined your mind is.
As you try to find the right balance between work and personal life, you can easily find a hundred excuses to avoid going to the gym. To those who say they do not have time to go to the gym, I think cycling is the perfect solution. I remember riding my bicycle almost every day for over 10 years. From high school till university, I took my beloved bicycle everywhere I went. Even when we went on a Euro-trip, we rented bicycles to explore different cities.
Besides the fact that cycling is a good muscle workout and it’s great for the environment, I just love the feeling the wind in my face and sun on my skin every time I go for a ride. There is no need for fancy elliptical machine or high tech treadmills to help you burn some calories. Cycling uses almost all of the major muscle groups so it’s a great full body exercise. If you focus on your breathing, it is also a great exercise for your heart and lungs.
Biking regularly can help you not only manage weight, but it can also help you boost your immune system. But at the end of the day it all comes down to how badly you want to stay in shape. If you take care of your body, your body will take care of you when it comes to experiencing different dimensions of life to the fullest.
