I still remember going to New York City for the very first time when I was 15 years old. We took a Greyhound bus from Toronto to Port Authority Bus Terminal during Christmas holidays. Since that day, I have been to New York City countless times over the last decade. But every single time I have visited this energetic city, it has given me new and unforgettable memories. From fun college road trips to meeting friends and families, New York has been a special part of my journey.
Out of all the places I have been to in New York City including the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Grand Central terminal, 9/11 Memorial, one place that always stands out is the city’s most popular intersection in the heart of Manhattan, the Times Square.
At the junction of Broadway, 7th Ave. and 42nd Ave., I could simply sit on the red steps of the Times Square and people watch for hours. It is the best spot to observe the hustle and bustle of this dynamic city. Even if you sit still, it is just fascinating to silently observe and absorb the city’s energy. The overall combination of yellow cabs driving by, tourists from all over the world taking pictures, street artists performing under giant colourful banner ads and people in formals going to work is something you cannot find anywhere else in the world.
Visiting the Times Square at night, especially during Christmas time, is a completely different experience. I clearly remember the famous Ball Drop Countdown I witnessed almost a decade ago. Although it was freezing cold, the energy and spirit of hundreds of thousands of people made it one of the most spectacular new year’s celebrations I have experienced on this planet.
Beside the vibrant Times Square, the modern architectures, museums, famous Broadway shows and some of the best restaurants in the world make it an idea place to visit for art and food lovers. Did you know that the New Your City is the busiest and most populous metropolitan city of United States?
