The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque - Abu Dhabi’s Iconic landmark

When we were travelling through United Arab Emirates, we visited the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.

Coincidently, we visited the Grand Mosque just before the sunset. The sight of the setting sun right behind the mosque was simply breath-taking. If you are a photographer or someone who loves beautiful sunsets, you must visit the Grand Mosque at sunset.

The mosque looks absolutely stunning from afar and up close. With over 1000 pillars holding more than 80 domes made out of marbles, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi is a remarkable piece of modern Islamic architecture. It is as beautiful form the inside as it looks from the outside. Huge chandeliers made of sparkling Swarovski crystals and shining 24 carat gold shines bright inside the mosque. The attention to detail and craftsmanship is simply remarkable.

Being the third largest mosque in the world and the largest mosque in the entire United Arab Emirates, this mosque is one of the most iconic landmarks of Abu Dhabi. The perfect combination of white marble and gold leafs make this architectural marvel look even more serene. If you would like to know about the interesting history and fascinating facts of the Grand Mosque, you can register for a free guided tours that take place at set times.

Since we visited the Grand Mosque at the sunset, we were able to witness the beauty and the ambiance of this stunning architecture during the day time as well as the night time.

Before you visit the Grand Mosque, you have to keep in mind that shorts and sleeve less clothes are not allowed. You have to dress respectfully to enter the mosque. If your clothes are not appropriate, the mosque staff will give you proper attire before you enter the mosque.

While we were in U.A.E., we also visited the famous Burj Khalifa and went for an exciting desert safari in Dubai. Going to an endless desert in the middle of nowhere felt completely different after spending an entire day in the concrete jungle of Dubai.
